Herbal Doula & Doctor Dogs

These are the two books I checked out from the Burien Library last week, and while I haven’t finished either of them yet I’ve learned so much. I take a bit of an extensive approach to my education. My passion is working with dogs, it’s pretty evident by now lol. However, to be fully Holistic I learn about how to work with Humans as much as possible as well as the opposite end of the spectrum of a service I offer.

The Herbal Doula by Marie White teaches about plant medicine for fertility in Humans, and while I offer Death Doula services, the opposite of death is life and therefore I must have a little knowledge in the opposing field because sometimes it’s a fine line between the two.

I then take my knowledge of how herbs with Humans and research how they work with dogs. Not every human safe herb is safe for dogs. Same with Essential Oil Scents. To be able to provide complete healing with a dog, a provider needs to be able to help the Pet Parents a bit as well as environment plays a huge part in quality of life for both Humans and Dogs.

Doctor Dogs by Maria Goodavage is about how Dogs our becoming a form of medicine. While, I’m still finishing the The Herbal Doula and haven’t read too much of this book yet, what I can say is that what I’ve read is just astounding. Dog’s noses are surreal and their individual personalities really shine when they’re doing “work” that speaks to them such as detecting an illness.

I can’t wait to share my full thoughts on these books when I finish them.
